Mingoa's semiconductor IP provides a simple upgrade path to add OAM functionality to Mobile Backhaul products. Its low cost is particularly suited to these cost sensitive applications.
It can be added to existing backhaul architectures as shown. The diagram
shows a typical backhaul architecture, with TDM and Ethernet mapped to either radio or fibre
interface. OAM functionality can be provided by integrating the IP into the hardware.
Performance Monitoring using hardware time-stamping and in-line packet counters gives accurate measurements of Frame Loss, Frame Delay and Frame Delay Variation. This achieves five-nines level of accuracy that is not easily guaranteed with software based solutions.
Hardware based OAM supports the detection of faults on multiple services (EVC) in 11.5ms using 3.3ms messaging rates. This enables switchover to backup services within the 50ms standard set by SONET. This performance is beyond the capability of most cost effective software solutions.
